Fast forward #2: Obama's real butch, ya know ...

This week has seen Obama called (more than a little insultingly to this gay man), the "first gay President" in an article by the sycophant (talk about someone who's "evolved."), and has seen Obama called the first female President.  While John Hinderaker over at Powerline asks if that makes Obama a lesbian (hehe), that is way too insulting to lesbians as every lesbian I know is tougher that The One.

Couple this with Obama's appearance this week at the estrogen-fest call The View and his commencement address at an all-female school, and you have a very emasucating week for the President.  I think they overplayed their hands here as America, and even the gay America that I know, largely prefers masculine males.  (This is not a criticism of effeminate males -- just an observation.)

The Obama team has to know that this characterization has gone to far.  So the pivot away from women and women's issues will be quick before any "girly man" meme gains steam in the press.

Thus, in the next few weeks (up to mid-June), look for the following news items:
  • Obama watches NBA playoffs
  • Obama plays basketball (golf is not butch enough)
  • Obama pals with NBA players
  • Obama hangs with black rap artists
  • Obama is a loving but tough dad (see Father's Day)
  • Obama greet/honors/pals with the military
  • Obama killed Osama (again and again)
Did I miss anything?

Fast Forward: Gay Marriage at the Democratic Convention in North Carolina

Obama recently timed his announcement of support for gay marriage conveniently so that it would have no impact on the vote on gay marriage in North Carolina.  That is, he didn't want to anger North Carolinians and other voters by supporting a measure that is going to lose. (Let's call this the reverse Chicago Olympics strategy and a perfect example of Obama's "courage".)

Now, the left is mad at the state of North Carolina and talking about a boycott.  Nevermind that impactful boycotts are usually hard to organize.  The key is that the left is pissed at North Carolina and will still be pissed when the Democrats hold there convention there in a few months.

So fast forward to every speaker wanting to speak-truth-to-power and chastise host North Carolina from the convention podium in Chartlotte (and, perhaps, with protests outside the convention doors).  They will all want to chance to say, "I'm here but I'm not happy about this land of homophobia."  But will they get a chance?

Odds are that Obama will want to pivot away from the gay marriage issue now that he's got the accolades and money bounce he wanted.  The position isn't broadly popular, especially in some key swing states.  So he'll probably want to put the issue put on the back burner on a national level.

The key question is: will he let speaker after speaker promote gay marriage, lambast North Carolina, and risk turning it into a "gay marriage convention," and thereby, hurt himself in swing states?  Or will he silence the left or push them to the mid-afternoon, little-watched speaking slots, and possibly anger his base?  Place your bets.

Restarting posting for 2012 election cycle

I've been silent on this blog for almost four years.  I came back and read what I wrote previously, and thought that it's time to come back to it because I've got some things to say that are just not said pervasively in this country.  Plus, I enjoy it.  So here it goes.
